Here are some photos of me when I was in Taiwan. We were there right when the virus broke out. But looking through these photos, I never could have imagined what this virus could do. I remember being frustrated because of how much “of a big deal” people were making of it. I was that person. But now things are incredibly different. Covid 19 has taken over our world.
My heart is broken. It’s broken for the families that have lost a loved one. My heart is broken for the people who have lost their jobs. My heart is broken for the whole world because of this virus. It’s a crazy time we’re living through. Even though we see our world crumbling, there is a rock solid Hope. And that Hope has a Name. His name is Jesus. I believe in a merciful God who sent his son to die for the sins of humanity. Jesus died in our place so we can live through Him. He died so we can have a relationship with the God of all creation who LOVES us. Jesus is our perfect & blameless Lamb.
Through Him, we live. We live with an unshakable hope and faith that isn’t moved by our circumstances. It doesn’t seem possible to have hope right now. But Jesus, our living hope makes it possible. He gives us strength in place of our weaknesses. He lifts our eyes up to Heaven to remind us that this earth is not our home. He reminds us that there is JOY to find in suffering. He enables us to stand on the heights even when our circumstances are deep in the valley. In our desperation and hopelessness, Jesus lifts us up. He is our living Hope, and I trust that He is working through this. We are not forsaken. We are not forgotten. He is our Miracle Worker. He is our Healer.
Our living hope, Jesus, is in our midst. “The Lord your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will be quiet in his love. He will delight in you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
