Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is located on the border of Arizona and Sonora. OPCNM was established as a protected area in 1937 by President FDR. The monument is the only location in the US where Organ Pipe Cactus grows. The park has a wide range of flora and fauna who have adapted to extreme heat and desert conditions.
Sidebar: Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is the first biosphere reserve that I had knowingly visited. I had been to others like Denali, Everglades, etc. - but didn't realize the designation before visiting. I also was surprised to see that not as many national parks had the designation as I had assumed.
Also, don't get me started on the darn wall and the damage it has done to fragile ecosystems, cultures, and humankind.
